Oak New Moon
A new moon to believe in yourself, to allow and trust what comes, for new experiences. Ask questions always, accepting that you don’t know everything and are here to learn.
New moons are always a sign and time of re-birth and re-activation.
They’re the beginning of a new lunar cycle.
Celtic tree astrology and the Celtic tree Calendar are modern constructs, dreamed up by Robert Graves, a poet and mythologist - Thirteen trees, one for each lunar cycle in the year.
Where astrology believes the effect of each new moon takes on the characteristics of astrological transits also occurring at the same time and of the archetypal sign it’s placed in. The tree calendar was developed so that each moon cycle took on the characteristics and archetypes of the tree it was placed in.
Archetypes of planets, the cosmos and nature offer us reflections of consciousness, they reinforce our inter-connective totality to all known and unknown things.

Oak is the seventh consonant of the Ogham alphabet and seventh moon cycle of the year, representing masculine solstice energy. It’s the most sacred of trees and maybe the most powerful moon cycle of the year for opening doors to opportunity.
The Oak New Moon is on Sunday 18th June at 5.37am.
It’s an exciting time full of energy, power, strength and growth.
The Oak tree was sacred to the Druids and it’s now that they’re reaching their full blooming stage.
Pliny said that the retreats of the Druids were always in Oak groves, and whatever grew on an Oak tree was held in reverence by them.
The Oak New Moon represents a time to tap into the energy of sovereignty, strength, and resilience that is associated with this powerful tree.
Oak trees have roots below ground that mirror the size of their branches above. From the initial taproot grows a lateral root system that spreads out horizontally. The root systems are very dramatic and are the primary support system for the tree.
The Oak New Moon is a time of great power and energy, offering opportunities for growth and new experiences. As one of the most sacred trees, Oak represents strength, honesty, confidence and bravery. It’s is a time to reflect on the power and stability of the oak's root system, which serves as an important metaphor for our own personal strength and resilience.
We have so much to learn from this king of trees.
Allow this Oak moon cycle to inspire you to spread your roots and do new things, expand your aperture and experience life and humankind through a wider lens. Walk with an open mind and generous spirit.
Keep your balance and ground yourself amidst all of the outward activity - Remembering your roots are connected to the earth - From this steady foundation allow yourself to rise.
Vibrations are strong at this time, with the Solstice on the horizon, be prepared in a healthy wholesome way. Imagine the hand of someone you love, a hand of grounding support upon your shoulder. The most important thing is not to become numb, be curious and notice what you notice.
If it gets too much, ground your body and your mind with practices that suit you. It can be like a whirlwind and take you up and away, landing you in a heap if not.
This Moon invites us to reflect on the symbolic and cultural significance of this mighty tree while also taking inspiration from its deep-rooted strength and resilience.
I’m going to be at the Body & Soul festival this Sunday and will be doing a little New Moon / Solstice Ritual Practice, finishing with a cocktail of course! ... As well as making the debut of a new project I’ve been working on in the background for the past 6/7 months, with a couple of other Galway heads that I’m very excited about!
