“A pilgrimage is a journey, often into an unknown or foreign place, where a person goes in search of new or expanded meaning about their self, others, nature, or a higher good, through the experience. It can lead to a personal transformation, after which the pilgrim returns to their daily life” - The results of a Wikipedia search of the word pilgrim.
Becoming still and simply waiting can be one of the most challenging things for us to allow ourselves to do.
Stillness can be uncomfortable - Our rational mind tells us that nothing is happening - It’s a time beyond our control.
In fact this is a liminal time - A time of in between which is powerful and necessary, both for the collective and the individual. It’s the place where we have to allow the inner knowing to take over - A place from which we can prepare the soil deep below the surface.
One of the juiciest ways I find to overcome any resistance to being still and overcoming any desire to propel myself forward too soon, is to bask and wallow in the sacredness of this seasonal time. To try to see it for what it is, a time to rest, renew and nourish myself.
