Welcome to Cailleach, my Substack platform where I seek to embrace the ever-evolving nature of life.
Mostly I live in daydreams, in this world as well as other worlds, i’m on a quest to express these places through writing, to create a place dedicated to exploring the mysteries of nature, connecting with ancient wisdom, and embracing the cycles of life. Specifically, this journal will follow my journey through the seasons and specifically the lunar cycles of the year.
I called this "Cailleach" because it represents the essence what this journal is about. Cailleach is an Irish word meaning "old woman" or "hag", but it encompasses much more than just age or gender. Cailleach represents wisdom, power, and a connection to nature. She's a symbol of the ancient, the mysterious, and the transformative. As i age i feel this archetypal energy growing within me, guiding my writing and exploration.
My name is Claire Davey, I've spent years studying the intricate relationships between humans and the natural world. I’ve an academic background in community activism, archaeology and plant medicine.
